What's up, everybody?
00:01
So this is a Notion AI slash automation video, and I thought I'd show you this little workflow that I've set up, which came about as I was working with somebody who I'm collaborating with, to essentially get the conscious stacks brand ecosystem universe out into the world.
00:21
And so what I did was okay.
00:25
Let let me back up.
00:26
Right?
00:26
Let let me take you through the scenario.
00:29
So I wanna go to LinkedIn, and I'll show you how this started.
00:35
Okay?
00:36
So what was happening, on LinkedIn is I was speaking to Kelly.
00:41
Right?
00:42
And we we were communicating here, and I found myself just naturally sort of brain dumping stuff to her right in the LinkedIn DM.
00:51
But then I thought to myself, oh, you know, this might be a little bit, tedious for her to, like, copy and paste stuff into other areas.
00:59
So I thought about, oh, is there a way that I can essentially automate or make this process experience easier based on my own stack?
01:11
Right?
01:11
So I wanna show you how leveraging or thinking about stacks in general in my day to day.
01:17
So here over in conscious monitor, which I recently renamed from focus monitor, you can see here I've got this information about my actual stack for the month.
01:30
K?
01:31
And there's a difference between a stack and a and a and a category, right, because you'll see the categories down here, right, for each of these tools, and they kind of interlock with one another.
01:41
But this app is going to essentially show you what your real stack is from a day to day basis.
01:48
So over the month, these are the tools that have been the most consistent that I've used.
01:53
Okay?
01:53
So I've got DIA, Windsurf, Notion, Conscious Monitor, and WhatsApp.
01:58
And you'll notice that each of these tools are across their respective tool categories.
02:06
K?
02:06
And they're all separate.
02:07
Right?
02:07
So it's not like I have DIA and Chrome that I'm using at the same time.
02:11
I've got info and reading, development, knowledge management, productivity, and communication.
02:16
So if we use the five three one rule, which is kinda six, yeah, if you count it because it's like five tools plus your one anchor.
02:23
Right?
02:23
Maybe I should rename this to six three one.
02:25
Anyways, what we got here are our tools.
02:30
This is our stack.
02:31
So now on a day to day basis, when I'm thinking about the next layer, say automations, I actually start thinking about, okay, which automations can I start creating that leverages these tools that I have here?
02:44
Okay?
02:45
So since I am using Notion a lot, it makes more sense for me to rewire or connect in further automations that are leveraging Notion natively.
02:56
Okay?
02:58
And on the Wind Surf side, well, this would be the equivalent would be like, okay.
03:02
If there's a new agent that comes out, how can I make sure that I plug that into Wind Surf and not anywhere else?
03:08
And on the communication side, like WhatsApp.
03:10
Okay.
03:11
If I'm creating a new community or something, I I'll I'll ask myself, okay.
03:15
What can I create that leverages WhatsApp from a community standpoint?
03:18
K?
03:19
And the same thing with extensions for the app browser.
03:22
Okay?
03:24
So with that in mind, we have all this here, and I said, okay.
03:28
Why don't I make use of Notion to set up some automations?
03:33
Right?
03:33
So it can essentially reenact what I've been doing here, but maybe better for Kelly.
03:41
And so in Notion, there is a button here called automations.
03:49
K?
03:49
And I've set up a new automation that looks like this.
03:53
So you'll see here, for all pages inside of this database, anytime I set the status to ready for a review, that is the trigger, And it is then going to take action and do the following.
04:07
It's going to send an email from one of the email addresses that I've already connected into Notion.
04:12
It's gonna select that, then it's gonna send an email to Cali, and it's gonna have all this information in the subject and message.
04:22
Okay?
04:23
And what's great about this is that you can use data points from Notion to automatically populate.
04:29
Right?
04:30
And you don't have to use an additional third party automation tool like Zapier, Make, etcetera, to do this.
04:39
Right?
04:40
And here, I can set the display name, so what it looks like on the email side, and also send a copy to myself if I need to.
04:48
Alright?
04:49
So I'm actually gonna oh, no.
04:51
That I should actually keep there.
04:56
K.
04:56
So I wanna put that there.
04:58
K.
04:59
And then, if I wanna have more actions, I can.
05:03
Right?
05:03
So if I say I wanted to end, send this message to Slack or send it to another application that accepts webhooks, or even send a notification inside of Notion, I can do that.
05:15
Alright?
05:15
This is where Notion has become pretty powerful.
05:18
So I am going to usually, I'd hit done, but I'm just gonna hit that, because nothing really needs to change for me.
05:25
And every time that I essentially change this status down to ready for review, that automation is gonna kick in.
05:34
And what that looks like is this on this side.
05:39
K?
05:40
So this is the email that got sent, and you'll see here, it's coming from Notion conscious stacks.
05:45
It's got the new CS brain dump alert, and it's got a link directly to the page that is correlated to, and it can show and it shows that it's from for me.
05:55
K?
05:55
So this way, now Callie doesn't have to open up her LinkedIn.
05:58
She can get email notifications.
06:00
She can set a filter, you know, if she doesn't want it to clog up her email inbox.
06:05
But this is how I use conscious stacks, right, the and conscious stack thinking to help me improve my day to day automation efforts so that it is swarming around my core stack.
06:22
Okay?
06:23
But using this tool allows you to be able to see what you actually use.
06:27
And as you're using it, it it's essentially inform you on what your style is.
06:34
Right?
06:34
And, of course, this can change.
06:36
Right?
06:36
And in the future, I'll probably have a feature that I'll will allow you to look at what might happen if you switch out a a tool in your core stack.
06:45
Right?
06:46
But we'll get to that another time.
06:48
But, hopefully, this was useful.
06:50
This is showing how you can leverage, Notion AI and Notion automation.
06:56
A quick thing here too is what I really love about Notion AI is that when I am say I wanna get a whole bunch of tags, I can actually have it so that Notion AI figures out the tags for me.
07:10
So say, for example, we got a game here.
07:13
It's okay.
07:14
Stack go.
07:15
A version of the classical Chinese game Go, enhanced with, conscious stack design principles, useful for CS practitioners.
07:40
K?
07:40
Now when I click here, it is going to read all the information for that entry and automatically find related tags that may already exist and also add new ones automatically for me.
07:53
Okay?
07:54
So this is a very useful feature, which just reduces the amount of time that you spend in creating stuff.
08:01
You can use AI across the board for these sort of databases.
08:05
Okay?
08:06
Speak soon.
